Đurić Confers with New German Ambassador
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Đurić met today with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Anke Gisela Holstein, to discuss the further advancement of bilateral relations and the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Đurić assessed that bilateral relations between Serbia and Germany are good and that there is mutual readiness to further enhance them, both politically and economically.
Đurić stressed that membership in the European Union remains Serbia’s strategic commitment and one of its foreign policy priorities, while reaffirming the country’s continued commitment to implementing the reforms necessary for progress on its European path.
Speaking about regional cooperation, he emphasised that Serbia remains firmly committed to preserving regional stability, developing good-neighbourly relations, and strengthening economic and infrastructure connectivity, noting that Germany is an important partner to Serbia in these efforts.
With regard to economic relations, Đurić pointed out that cooperation between the two countries continues to develop dynamically year on year, as evidenced by the sustained inflow of investment by German companies in Serbia, particularly in sectors of importance for the country’s continued economic growth and development.
He underlined that economic reforms and the creation of a favourable business environment are important for ensuring sustainable growth and attracting new investment, recalling that, as a result of the reforms implemented and its responsible economic policy, Serbia has more than doubled its gross domestic product over the past ten years.
Minister Đurić wished Ambassador Holstein every success in the discharge of her new duties, expressing confidence that her tenure would see the continuation of open and constructive dialogue and the further strengthening of cooperation between Serbia and Germany in areas of mutual interest.
