Minister Barbara Creecy opens Road Safety Practitioners’ Colloquium, 2 Sept

Members of the media are invited to join the Minister of Transport, Ms. Barbara Creecy and the Deputy Minister, Mr. Mkhuleko Hlengwa as they host the Road Safety Practitioners’ Colloquium from 02 – 04 September 2026 at the Birchwood Hotel & OR Tambo Conference Centre in Ekurhuleni.

Minister Creecy will officiate the opening with a keynote address on Wednesday, 02 September 2026, setting the strategic direction under the theme: “Strengthening Road Safety through Collaboration, Innovation and Accountability.”

This national gathering will spotlight urgent road safety challenges, showcase innovative solutions, and secure commitments that transform road safety from a government-led programme into a Whole-of-Society Movement. The colloquium will culminate in the adoption of a national declaration and commitments, establishing clear responsibilities and measurable actions to reduce fatalities and injuries on South Africa’s roads.
